Natalie Chan

Apprentice Speech and Language Therapist

Natalie is a currently completing her apprenticeship in Speech and Language Therapy at The London Children’s Practice, through the University of Essex. Natalie obtained her Philosophy Degree at University College London, with a focus on Meaning & Interpretation and Language. Natalie has also obtained a Level 3 Award in Supporting Learners with Specific Learning Difficulties, where she received training in learning techniques for improving phonological awareness. Natalie has an array of experience with children and young people with a variety of needs having worked in SEN schools, mainstream schools and alongside qualified speech and language therapists. She also facilitates 1:1 sessions with children and is passionate about her research.

Before joining The London Children’s Practice, Natalie worked as a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, with experience in supporting students with complex needs, as well as students with specific learning difficulties (such as ADHD) and ASC. Natalie has experience running interventions with children using specialised techniques such as Blanks, Lego Therapy, Colourful Semantics and Makaton to help children improve their social communication, expressive language and oral language comprehension skills.

Natalie has a special interest in Autism Spectrum Conditions, Developmental Language Disorder and stammering. Natalie believes that Speech and Language Therapy can provide life changing treatment for children and their families, and so aspires to qualify as a Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist .

Outside of work, Natalie enjoys bouldering, dancing and discovering new restaurants in London.
